This is the next stage in giving us sewers. The level of the "water table" under our road is too high for digging trenches. So they've drilled a long line of 5-metre holes with pipes down them, all connected by a bigger pipe to a pump at the end of the road. This way they hope to suck the land dry. It must be working, because this morning they blocked the end of the road with more excavations. The sewers are getting nearer!
